In February I was asked to take the Nivea Smooth Sensation Challenge. The challenge was for me to use Nivea Smooth Sensation Daily Lotion for seven days and see what kind of differences I saw in my skin.
First, a little background. Let?s start with some info about my hands. Every night before bed CJ and I snuggle up on the couch and hold hands. When you hold hands with my son it always involves some sort of massage. He will rub his own hand on your hand or fingers, giving himself a little hand massage. It?s pretty cute. My son has a knack for noticing everything about my hands. Whether I have a cut, scrape, hangnail, chipped nail polish, you name it and he notices it. When he notices these things he tells you ?boo-boo? or ?boo-boo, yuck?.
Now, some info about my legs. At the end of January I had leg surgery. Because of the healing process I wasn?t allowed to put anything on my legs for about two weeks, and then I could only put certain things on them after that. But once I was cleared in February, the doctor recommended that I find a good lotion and used it on my leg because hydration would help healing and hopefully diminish scarring. Fast foward to almost the end of February. I finally had the doctor?s blessing to take a bath and use lotions at will on my right leg. My left leg was just itching to try the Nivea. Literally. In the winter time my hands and legs become very dry. When my legs get dry they get itchy. If you have ever had itchy, dry skin, then you probably know that it flares up at the worst times. Like when you?re trying to sleep. The itching would sometimes flare up at night and keep me awake, which in turn would drive both hubby and I crazy.
So, I started the challenge in late February. I got a bit sidetracked, what with studying, homework, midterms, James Franco, and basically life, so my test period has been a bit longer then it was supposed to be. I?ve been using Nivea Smooth Sensation on a daily basis now for almost six weeks. I?ve been using it on my hands and legs. I have to say that I really like it. Let me tell you why.
I started applying the Nivea Smooth Sensation Daily Lotion once a day, right after my morning shower. I really didn?t think that applying the lotion once a day would be enough. Yet, at the end of the day I didn?t feel like I needed to apply again. That?s due to what is called Hydra IQ in the lotion. After about a week you could really notice the changes happening. My legs were no longer like a chalkboard or the desert, itchy and leaving dead skin everyhere. The itching decreased substantially, and by about the end of the second week it had just about stopped completely. It?s so much easier to rest without all that scratching and itching going on. Definitely a thumbs up from me, or in Facebook terms, a ?like?.
My hands also felt different. They felt a lot softer and didn?t feel like they were crying for moisture. It doesn?t take forever to get into your skin. You don?t need a lot and it absorbs really quickly. It doesn?t smell bad like some, or flowery and fake like others, it smells sort of ?clean?, it reminds me of cold cream. Most of all, I love that even though the Nivea Smooth Sensation feels luxurious and creamy, it isn?t greasy. A week or so into using the Nivea my favorite date (my youngest) informed me that my hands were ?nice? and also gave my hands a ?like?.
